With great reluctance, the RBC Committee decided in August, 2018 to return to the normal Club Session format due to poor attendance. The Club's expectations that these supervised sessions would prove popular, especially since this was the only (as far as we could tell) supervised session taking place in the evening in Eastern and Central Sydney, proved to be overly optimistic. The reality is that many, many students who attend bridge lessons are lost to the game because of a lack of follow-up supervision and encouragement - particularly if they are at work during the daytime. We were surprised that the experiment clearly had not worked and had no choice but to discontinue the "supervised" element of our Wednesday evening sessions.

The original announcement has been left on the website because the situation remains just as true today as it did in 2017.

With effect from March 1, 2017, Randwick Bridge Club's Wednesday evening session will become "supervised".

A Supervised Bridge Session is particularly suitable for new and less experienced players who still need a little help in bidding and playing their hands. At each session, a Director, Bridge Teacher and/or other experienced player(s) will be on hand to provide help and advice when required. Simply raise your hand when you are "stuck" for a bid or the correct card to lead and someone will come and assist you.

Taking part in these sessions is invaluable in that it makes the transition between classroom and Club duplicate bridge session easier and helps the less experienced player gain in both experience and confidence.

Supervised Sessions take place every Wednesday evening at the Randwick Bridge Club, Senior Citizens' Centre, 6, Alma Road, Maroubra 2035.

The session starts at 7pm and finishes at 10pm. Please try to be there by 6:45pm at the latest.

This is the only supervised Bridge session in our area which takes place during the evening. It is, therefore, very suitable for those players who are at work during the daytime.

Table money is the same as for "regular" sessions - Members $5; Non-Members $12. Club Membership $30 per annum (July/June).

Complementary tea/coffee and biscuits are provided.

You do not necessarily need a partner - one can usually be provided. However, it is helpful if two or three days notice can be given, if you do not have a partner and would like the Club to find you one.

For any further details, please contact the Club Director, Stuart Packington or the Club Secretary, Theo Mangos (contact details under "Contacts" button on the Home Page).

Randwick is a friendly and welcoming Bridge Club. Come and join us - we would love to see you.
